I am absolutely in love with the Book Beau, ‘Your book’s one true paring,’ sitting right at the top of my ‘Must-Have’ accessories for books!
The Book Beau is the original book sleeve, created and designed by Benita Botello. Each is hand crafted with great attention to detail and a lot of love. Botello’s inspiration behind the Book Beau stems from her own passion of reading and determination to create a cover for her books that would be very durable to withstand a lot of wear and tear and still keep her books in prime condition. She has definitely succeeded in her mission to make the Book Beau stand out above other book sleeves in their durability, but these lovely accessories are also unique in their beautiful styles as well. Botello uses a wide assortment of different designs, colors, and book themes (like Harry Potter, Beauty and the Beast etc.) in her fabric selections which are right on trend and appeal to all book lovers alike. They come in four different sizes to fit every style of book, ranging from the smaller published books and up to the larger hardback books, and they retail from $15-$25 based on the size.
I was so excited when I first snagged the beautiful red and black plaid designed Book Beau, as I had been dyeing to get my hands on one of these beauties! They have become so popular that Botello is working overtime to keep up with their demand and usually sells out on her online store in minutes. So, I was super relieved when I got mine in hand. I have to admit though, that I soon realized that one is simply not enough and I needed one for all of my books. They are totally addictive and make the perfect gift as well!

A girl and her books…
‘Book Beau started when I couldn’t find exactly what I was looking for. What I wanted was some kind of protection for my books. I am lucky enough to live in a city where I get to attend some pretty cool book signings where some really badass authors will be! I started collecting quite a few signed books, some of which I haven’t even read! I started buying the same book in a digital format (ebook) so I could actually read it without worrying about ruining my book. That got expensive really fast!
I wanted something snug, and cute. Something I would be able to put my book in, throw it in my bag and not worry about messing it up. I decided I would learn how to sew and just make exactly what I wanted, and thats what I did. I drove over an hour to a really cute sewing boutique and took a beginners course to sewing. A LOT of ruined projects and fabrics later I was finally happy with the final product.
I started making them for the books I would loan to friends and loved it so much I gave a few away on Facebook. I got such an overwhelming response from friends and strangers wanting them I had no choice but to keep sewing and get them into all the hands I could.
