I always enjoy a good sports and second chance romance, and I really loved every minute of this heartwarming read! It wrapped me up in all the feels with its tender and touching moments, but it was such fun with Chase’s trademark witty writing style!

Emma Chase is one of my all-time favorite authors, and she always creates such unique, fun, and passionate stories. With her truly manly men and the women who dazzle in their eyes, along with some of the best happily-ever-after’s, they always have almost a dreamy and fairytale quality to them. In Getting Schooled, Chase has yet again wrapped me up in all the feels, and this time with the perfect combination of sports and second chance romance. It was just so darn sweet, utterly heartwarming, and I loved every minute of this read!

Garrett and Callie were such an adorable pair, and their quirky characters were so down to earth and relatable!

Garrett’s wit kept me laughing, and his upbeat and positive attitude was very refreshing. Although he seemed like a simple kind of guy, I was impressed with how much heart and passion he put into his teaching, coaching, and everything that he did. He hadn’t always been dealt a perfect hand, and I really admired how he rolled through the punches in life with a ‘glass half full’ type of mentality.

‘Life happens, Callie – sometimes it’s good, sometimes it sucks hairy monkey balls. But, life happens to all of us.’

I really admired Callie in going after her own happiness in life. She was strong and determined, and although it seemed that sometimes she lost sight of what was truly important, she wasn’t selfish. Perhaps protective of her feelings would be the better way to view it, because she really had a loyal and caring nature about her, as well as an incredibly big heart when it came to her family, friends, and students.

‘I don’t remember how I lasted sixteen years without Garrett Daniels in my life. Now that he’s back, I’m like a junkie- I crave him, think about him, all the time.’

Garrett and Callie shared an effortless and special kind of love. Their history, understanding, and tender moments were very touching, and combined with their chemistry and passion, proved how they deserved their second chance and were truly meant to be!

‘And then I basically crack open my chest and let her see my heart. The one that beat for her when we were kids, the soul that breathed just for her – and now does again.’

Emma Chase did a fantastic job with the sports dialogue in the story, and I appreciated how she incorporated the importance of coaches and teachers and how they make a difference and inspire students. I loved the warm family feel of the story with Garrett and Callie’s friends, siblings, and crazy parents, who were all such ‘characters’ and pretty hilarious. I also enjoyed the quaint small town feel and nostalgia of all of them growing up together over the years.

Chase’s witty and fun nuances, with everything from the Seinfeld ‘Soup Nazi,’ to Eddie Money, to The Little Shop of Horrors, made the story even more relatable and fun, leaving me with a smile on my face. All three epilogues wrapped up Garrett and Callie’s happily ever after in one big bow and gave me the perfect conclusion to their story that I was hoping for!

You can probably tell, but in a nutshell, I just LOVED this feel-good read! There will also be more stories to this Getting Some Series, and with all of the endearing secondary characters in this, I can’t wait to find out whose story will be next!
