I have some crazy mad love for The Wall of Winnipeg and Me, and my goodness, I can’t believe I waited so long to read Mariana Zapata’s writing!

Vanessa Mazur knows she’s doing the right thing. She shouldn’t feel bad for quitting. Being an assistant/housekeeper/fairy godmother to the top defensive end in the National Football Organization was always supposed to be temporary. She has plans and none of them include washing extra-large underwear longer than necessary

But when Aiden Graves shows up at her door wanting her to come back, she’s beyond shocked.

For two years, the man known as The Wall of Winnipeg couldn’t find it in him to tell her good morning or congratulate her on her birthday. Now? He’s asking for the unthinkable.

What do you say to the man who is used to getting everything he wants?

I only hear wonderful things about Mariana Zapata, so I’ve really been looking forward to reading her books for quite some time now. I also enjoy sports romances, but other than knowing this was about football, I went into this quite blindly. The Wall of Winnipeg and Me was such a pleasant surprise and excellent introduction to Zapata’s writing. I have to tell you that I really have some mad love for this book!

Every now and again, a read will just leave me speechless where I don’t feel able to write a complete review to do it justice. I actually read this two months ago and have tried to put one together and failed miserably. So, I’m going to share my notes that I wrote in my car while waiting for the kids to get out school instead. Weird? Yes, but I did take out the typos (I think).

Beautiful. Holy hell, this was such a beautiful story.

And sweet. Oh so sweet. So freaking sweet. Seriously, just kill me now.

And funny. Genuinely some laugh out loud moments.

And passionate. The slowest of the slow-burning type. This is one of the most passionate stories I’ve read in a long time, and I absolutely loved every minute of it.

Complex. Both the characters and the story were complex, but it was written with so much eloquence and heart that it flowed very smoothly.

Amazing. I loved Vanessa and Aiden’s characters. They were so quaint and loyal, and I enjoyed their feisty yet caring nature. Especially in regards to Aiden.

And long. This is one of the longest books I’ve read lately, but I totally flew through it and want to read it again actually. Right now.

The Wall of Winnipeg and Me was kind of like a ‘Prince Charming’ story to me, and I loved the surprise and beauty of it. The writing was perfectly paced, and I can’t recall wanting a book NOT to end as much as this one. I actually read it, and then went back and read it backwards, just to make sure I had every detail sorted in my heart. It was just THAT good!

Easily an all-time favorite, I highly recommend it, and look forward to more works by Mariana Zapata!

Abouttheauthorwww.dgbookblog.com:mariana.zapata.profileMariana Zapata began writing love stories soon after she learned how to spell. She probably shouldn’t admit that she started sneaking romance novels from her aunt’s bookshelves way before she was old enough to even understand what it meant when a man flipped up a woman’s skirt. (Don’t tell her mom.)

She is a New York Times and USA Today Best Seller, and reached #7 on Amazon’s Author Ranking in 2016. Her book The Wall of Winnipeg and Me was a #1 Amazon Overall Best Seller, and was chosen as a 2016 Goodreads Choice Award nominee and also included on Amazon’s Best Books of 2016 for Romance. Wait for It reached #2 on the Amazon Overall Best Seller list and stayed in the top 100 for six weeks; it was chosen as a 2017 Goodreads Choice Award nominee in the Romance category. Dear Aaron was a top 10 Amazon Overall Best Seller and stayed in the top 100 for six weeks.

Mariana is a native Texan living in a small town in Colorado with her husband and two beloved (and emotionally manipulative) Great Danes, Dorian and Kaiser. When she’s not pretending to write, she’s reading. You can usually find her burning somewhat edible experiments in the kitchen or cracking jokes at the expense of her family members.

She also loves to hear from her readers!

Have you ever had to throw a Hail Mary on a review? I feel like this is one of the strangest I’ve written, but I’m not one to give up – especially on such a wonderful book!

Have a great weekend!
