London, 2019.  Life has been easy for Maxim Trevelyan. With his good looks, aristocratic connections, and money, he’s never had to work and he’s rarely slept alone. But all that changes when tragedy strikes and Maxim inherits his family’s noble title, wealth, and estates, and all the responsibility that entails. It’s a role he’s not prepared for and one that he struggles to face.

But his biggest challenge is fighting his desire for an unexpected, enigmatic young woman who’s recently arrived in England, possessing little more than a dangerous and troublesome past.  Reticent, beautiful, and musically gifted, she’s an alluring mystery, and Maxim’s longing for her deepens into a passion that he’s never experienced and dares not name. Just who is Alessia Demachi? And can Maxim protect her from the malevolence that threatens her? And what will she do when she learns that he’s been hiding secrets of his own?

From the heart of London through wild, rural Cornwall to the bleak, forbidding beauty of the Balkans, The Mister is a roller-coaster ride of danger and desire that leaves the reader breathless to the very last page.

~ E L James ~

I’m a former TV executive, wife and mother-of-two based in the leafy suburbs of West London. I have been writing romantic fiction since 2009 and in 2012 my career took an extraordinary turn when my Fifty Shades Trilogy became a worldwide bestseller and subsequently a series of blockbuster movies.

From an early age, I had dreamed of writing stories that readers would fall in love with—and now those dreams have come true, thanks to you guys.  I hope that you take my new story The Mister to your heart just as you did Fifty Shades.

Thanks to all of you for your support—it has meant the world to me. If anyone were to ask me what lessons I’ve learned from my crazy adventures, I would say this: Life is not a dress rehearsal—seize the day and follow your dreams.

I wish you the best of luck.

  1. I’m on the fence about reading this one. I loved 50 shades when I read it. I couldn’t stand the first movie or the Grey. They kind of ruined that series for me. Actually, who am I kidding? I’ll be requesting it on e-book from my library just because I’m curious. Plus, I loved her at BB.

    1. Gawd, you’re SO negative Astrid! 😂🤣😂 Love your honesty and no judgement from me girlfriend! So, just to clarify, you think the writing in the excerpt for 50 Shades is horrible or this new one? I liked 50 Shades, but mostly because of the psychological aspect if that makes sense. The sex sure was steamy though! Would you be open to reading the new one or is it a closed door to you? Just curious to know.. ❤️

      1. LMAO! 😀

No I mean this excerpt (which also answer the question whether I’d be open to read this one – no, I just think she can’t write lol) I’m a minority and EL James can live with that just fine. She’s got millions to comfort herself 😀

  2. Hmm, I admit it, I’m curious! I loved Fifty Shades even though the grammar almost killed me (Lit professor in me wanted to edit it with a marking pen, haha)! But that didn’t stop me from reading it! So I’ll be buying this one ♥

      1. It really was, lol. I get that way reading some of the ARCS except that I know (hopefully) they will at least be fixed by publication, lol. Hers was just, no, bad. But the story…I was so intrigued! Yes, fingers crossed! Or she has a better editor! 🙂

          1. No, I never would! I think it’s easier to notice them in books. I’m not sure why. Everyone makes grammar and punctuation mistakes, but I do think her editor should have done better last time, lol.

            1. Okay, I feel better now! It is surprising when people who get paid to edit miss so many things, and it definitely does not go unnoticed in reading books! I kind of feel like the author really gets jilted when that happens. Would be curious to know their thoughts when it happens to them…

              1. I feel like they do too, and she received such flack over her poor grammar, punctuation, etc, that she had to have felt bad (or I would have anyway). Or she just made so much money that she laughed about it, lol. It could have gone either way!
