I’ve really been looking forward to the Jamison Valley Series by Devney Perry for quite a while now, and although I went in with my hopes set a little too high, The Coppersmith Farmhouse turned out to be a really sweet romance!

One old farmhouse brought them together. It could also tear them apart.

Gigi has just uprooted her whole world to start a new life. The unexpected gift of a farmhouse in small-town Montana is just what she and her daughter need to escape big-city loneliness. The last thing she needs is attitude from the town’s sheriff, the most perfectly attractive and ruggedly handsome man she’s ever laid eyes on—and a complete jerk.

Jess knows all about women like Gigi. Beautiful. Sexy. Scheming. She’s stolen his sanctuary, the farmhouse that should have been his. But along with a face full of freckles, she’s got a sharp wit and a backbone of steel—something he doesn’t discover until after making a complete fool of himself. If he can earn back her trust and win her heart, he might just find the home he’s always needed.

Gosh, I feel kind of bummed with my thoughts on this romance. There were many aspects of this story that I really enjoyed, but somehow, it ended up being just an okay read for me.

There was such a warmth about many of the characters in the story! I loved Gigi’s caring nature, and Rowen was an absolute little doll! I did think that Jess was a little over the top being a ‘Mr. Bossy Pants’. He kind of annoyed me for a lot of the story, but I was glad that Gigi put him in his place. At the end of the day, Jess was a good guy with a great heart, and I loved how he was so sweet with Rowen as well. He really would do anything and everything for his ‘girls’!

I really liked the small town feel of Prescott, Montana, and it seems like the kind of place I would enjoy visiting. I just had a really hard time getting into the story for some reason. There was a great underlying mystery, but there were only very tiny snippets throughout, not really enough to engage me so much. Then, towards the end, it was great, and I couldn’t seem to put the book down. This was a good and very solid story, and maybe if a little more suspense came into play earlier, it would have caught my attention and kept me engaged more.

Overall, I enjoyed this read, so I’m a bit torn on my rating. Perhaps I went into it with my expectations set too high, but regardless, The Coppersmith Farmhouse was a very sweet romance. My curiosity is also piqued about the secondary characters in the story, and I would still like to try out the rest of the books in the Jamison Valley Series!

  1. Bummer that you didn’t fall in love with this one. I haven’t read one of her books yet, but want to. I’ve heard such good things about them. I guess I’ll start with a different one knowing this one wasn’t a hit for you. Great review, though!
