DaisyGal’s Review:

I love how Laurelin Paige’s romances vary so much! All are super sexy (she can certainly write some steam!), but her stories can range from dark and angsty to incredibly fun and sweet. Sex Symbol is more of a light-hearted read with its fun, feisty, and strong willed characters, yet it’s filled with loads of passion and kept me brimming with anticipation from the get-go!

Maddie Bauer was tired of settling. Already settling for less in her career, she certainly wasn’t willing to settle in her personal life as well. Micah Preston was a playboy movie star. Career always came first and Hollywood relationships…well they were impossible. Their passion sparked when their paths briefly crossed in the past, and now seven years of time and distance later, their passion is definitely still there. However, the risks are high. Maddie isn’t willing to sacrifice her job or her heart, and Micah’s rules are firmly set into place.

Maddie and Micah were definitely a handful, but I really adored them both! Although Maddie was completely smitten with ‘Micah-from-the-party-Preston,’ she wasn’t willing to be hidden away as his little secret. She was stubborn and strong, and I loved her for that! She was a bit of a crier, which annoyed me a bit at times, but her emotion also kept her character real. Like Maddie, I really couldn’t resist Micah’s charm either. Although quite full of himself at times, he was genuinely thoughtful and caring and such a romantic! I loved his appreciation, understanding, and respect for Maddie. Their relationship was quite complicated to say the least, but it was also flirty and fun. Their passion was like a flash fire between them that was impossible for them to contain, and their chase kept me on the edge of my seat as they volleyed back and forth with their feelings throughout the story!

The storyline was great, and this was not just an ordinary second chance romance. Paige is such a fantastic writer, and I love that she always adds some twists and turns to add such depth to her stories. Maddie and Micah were very intriguing and engaging (although I wanted to strangle them at times!), and their story is told from both of their points of view. Since they behaved so different outwardly, I was glad to know what was actually going on in their minds. I loved the setting of the story, which mostly took place in Colorado. I have travelled there in the past, and Paige did a wonderful job of pulling me back into the mountains and pine trees!

The anticipation for these two to find their Happily Ever After just about killed me, but it was really sweet in the end. Yay for Micah finding his balls and getting over his douchebaggery! This was originally published under the title, Take Two, which had a sequel, and I wonder if there will be one after this as well. Sometimes I can be a little greedy with the endings, but I would love to know if their relationship does in fact survive the years in Hollywood!

About Laurelin Paige:

laurelin-paige-photo

NY Times & USA Today Bestselling author Laurelin Paige is a sucker for a good romance and gets giddy anytime there’s kissing, much to the embarrassment of her three daughters. Her husband doesn’t seem to complain, however. When she isn’t reading or writing sexy stories, she’s probably singing, watching Game of Thrones and the Walking Dead, or dreaming of Michael Fassbender. She is represented by Rebecca Friedman and Friedman Literary.
