aboutthebook

Célian Laurent.
Manhattan royalty.
Notorious playboy.
Heir to a media empire.
…And my new boss.

I could have impressed him, if not for last month’s unforgettable one-night stand.
I left it with more than orgasms and a pleasant memory–namely, his wallet.
Now he’s staring me down like I’m the dirt under his Italian loafers, and I’m supposed to take it.
But the thing about being Judith “Jude” Humphry is I have nothing to lose.
Brooklyn girl.
Infamously quirky.
Heir to a stack of medical bills and a tattered couch.
When he looks at me from across the room, I see the glint in his eyes, and that makes us rivals.
He knows it.
So do I.
Every day in the newsroom is a battle.
Every night in his bed, war.
But it’s my heart at stake, and I fear I’ll be raising the white flag.

MyReviewShort&SweetDirty Headlines by L.J. Shen definitely lived up to all the hype! Célian and Judith were both such strong and feisty, yet lovable characters, and their passion literally steamed off the pages. Shen creates such unique and consuming storylines, and I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of this enemies-to-lovers office romance!

aboutthebookIf anyone ever said being an adult was easy, they hadn’t been one long enough.

Diana Casillas can admit it: she doesn’t know what the hell she’s doing half the time. How she’s made it through the last two years of her life without killing anyone is nothing short of a miracle. Being a grown-up wasn’t supposed to be so hard.

With a new house, two little boys she inherited the most painful possible way, a giant dog, a job she usually loves, more than enough family, and friends, she has almost everything she could ever ask for.

Except for a boyfriend.

Or a husband.

But who needs either one of those?

MyReviewShort&SweetMy goodness, this was fantastic in Audible and probably the fastest I’ve listed to one yet! Callie Dalton was the narrator, and she was the perfect Diana, with her fun, feisty, and charismatic voice. She really conveyed Diana’s passion for her two boys and her man, and I could totally relate to the challenges that she faced – especially being a parent of kids in competitive sports. It’s certainly not easy!

The Queen of Slow Burn Romance did a wonderful job with this sweet and feel good story and has yet to disappoint. I highly recommend it!

~ The Sexpert (Tall, Dark, and Handsome #1) by J.A. Huss and Jonathon McClain ~

Release Date ~ July 24, 2018

www.dgbookblog.com:the.sexpert.huss:mcclain.cover

aboutthebook

A new standalone romantic comedy from New York Times bestselling author, JA Huss, and Actor/Screenwriter, Johnathan McClain.

EDEN

I’m just a simple girl who likes dessert. And sexy men. And social media. So starting an anonymous video channel called The Sexpert as a side hustle to make up for my low-paying marketing job at Le Man Magazine seemed like a perfectly sensible career decision. Until we went viral, my boss accused my anonymous personality of stealing his idea, and now my super sexy new boyfriend, Andrew, is out to get me.

Her. Me. Whatever.

ANDREW

I don’t want it to be her. I do not want this… sweet, delicious, shy social media nerd working at my best friend’s magazine to be the face behind those perky cupcakes on the Sexpert channel. I don’t want it to be her… because I like her. A lot. She’s funny, and quirky, and smart, and creative… and… I really, really like her. It just can’t be her.

But it is.
And now I have to choose.
My best friend?
Or… The Sexpert?

MyReviewShort&SweetThis is my first gander into the works of the new McClain and Huss writing duo. I’ve always loved Julie Huss’s dark, edgy, and sexy writing, so I was very curious at what The Sexpert would have to offer. Simply put, it was a lot of fun!

I really enjoyed how genuine and honest the characters were in the story. Although Eden wasn’t totally up front with Andrew, she said what was on her mind and was just herself… cute and clumsy all wrapped up in one big bow. Andrew was very atypical from what I would expect from a man of his success… very simple and sweet.

He was also completely enchanted by Eden, and although I did question his depth of feeling for her at times, they really were a cute pair. They also shared one of the steamiest ‘raining on the patio’ love scenes I’ve read – definitely would be a ‘wowza’ on the rating scale!

The storyline was very unique and fun with Eden’s anonymous video channel. I always love Huss’s EOBS (End of Book Shit), because she’s so candid with her reasoning in creating her stories, and I enjoyed McClain’s take and getting to know more about him as well.

I look forward to future works by this pair, and I would recommend it if you are looking for a light, fun, and fast paced read, and maybe some tips from the ‘Sexpert’!

~ Company Ink by Kat Colburn ~

Release Date ~ January 13, 2018

Pageflex Persona [document: PRS0000039_00009]

aboutthebook

Office intrigue takes on a whole new meaning in this story of love, friendship, and the secrets hiding behind boardroom doors…

The Company has a rule about falling in love on the job.

I’ve never been one for rules. But I need this one. I need this rule to remind me why I can’t be with Dani Wallace.

I need this smart little foul-mouthed fighter by my side more than I need her in my bed. I need her to close this massive deal. She thinks it holds the key to her escape from cubicle hell and another shot at the life she always wanted.

But there is more riding on our success than she can possibly ever know. So I’ll keep my hands to myself and my secrets safe for one more day.

But now I can’t stop wondering what my best friend has on beneath her conservative suit. I can’t stop imagining the things that sharp mouth of hers could do to me if I leaned back in my chair and unzipped my pants. And I can’t stop pushing our flirting too far.

I’m trying to remember the rule. But some rules are made to be broken.

MyReviewShort&Sweet

One of my favorite things is stumbling upon new Indie Authors with debut books that really hit it out of the park, and Company Ink by Kat Colburn is definitely one of them!

I really enjoyed Dan and Dani’s characters in the story and really felt for Dani on many levels! She faced so many challenges in her life with not only her job but dealing with her mother’s health and the responsibility of keeping her family afloat with all of the medical bills. I really admired how Dani carried the weight of the world on her shoulders, but somehow still managed to keep her wits about her.

My favorite though was Dani’s snarky and honest humor about it all and how Dan ate every bit of it up! He was so mysterious, and although intimidating at first, Dani’s personality was just what he needed to lighten up. Together they were such a great complement to each other, and their slow burning sizzle just about killed me. It was so perfect in the story!

The story was very well written, and I really enjoyed the complex and consuming storyline. It was told from both Dani and Dan’s point of views, which pulled on my emotions. Specifically, the foreshadowing from Dan’s perspective really kept me on my toes, and there was so much intrigue and many suspenseful twists throughout the story that I did not see coming at all!

Company Ink was such an enjoyable read and a fantastic debut for Kat Coburn!

aboutthebook

The sexy and emotional companion novella to the New York Times bestselling romance Hero

Nadia Ray is not just a broadcast meteorologist. She’s Boston’s morning television It Girl. Successful and independent, she’s put a past she’s ashamed of behind her and is forging a future she can be proud of. However, when her new boss discovers her secret he blackmails her, intent on using Nadia’s popularity to make them the number one morning show in Massachusetts. He wants her to be part of uncovering the city’s biggest scandal – a secret billionaire Caine Carraway is hiding.

Soon Nadia is thrown into the path of Caine’s best friend: sexy, wealthy bachelor Henry Lexington. But she doesn’t encounter the dashing high society gentleman Henry is purported to be. Instead she’s faced with an insulting and defensive villain who misjudges her at every turn.

When Henry finally realizes the truth, and decides to make amends, Nadia wants nothing to do with him. But she underestimates his determination and charm and soon they find themselves embroiled in an intense, passionate affair.

An affair Nadia knows must come to an end before their feelings grow any deeper and he discovers her secrets.

After all, Henry Lexington isn’t the only one who played the part of a villain once…

MyReviewShort&Sweet

Villain (Hero, 1.5) has been on my TBR for what seems like forever! Not only have I enjoyed every book I’ve read by Samantha Young, but I absolutely loved Hero and quickly snagged this up when it came out. Unfortunately I just got around to reading this novella, but this short romance was the perfect combination of suspenseful and sweet!

Although Nadia was seen by many as ‘WCVB’s Weather Pin Up Girl,’ there was much more to her mysterious character. She questioned her decisions of her past, but she was strong and determined to not make the same mistakes moving forward. There was a lot more to Henry as well. Boston’s most eligible playboy was obviously full of charm, but he was loyal and would stand up to anyone who threatened those he cared about. Nadia and Henry were both bull-headed and feisty, and it was fun to follow their banter. They really were quite the perfect pair for each other!

I really enjoyed the secondary characters in the story as well, and although Henry’s mother was absolutely horrible, it was great to see Caine and Lexie again. The storyline had a very intriguing and complex plot that really kept me guessing. It was told from Nadia’s point of view, and I flew through it at a rather fast pace wanting answers to my questions and wondering if Nadia and Henry could be together. It was genuinely well – written, and I really liked that it wasn’t overly angsty and had a super sweet happily ever after!

            1. We need our breaks woman- we just need them!!! I have hit a wall lately, and I’m trying to get my daughter to pick a college. We’re in San Antonio this weekend with campus visit at Trinity- such a stressful year.

  1. I loved Dirty Headlines and Wait for It, so I’m happy you did, too! 🙂 I hope you read Kulti soon. Sal is Diana’s cousin!
I also found one I need to read on here. I have read J.A. Huss, but not any of their collaborations I need to try this one! Great mini reviews. 🙂

    1. I can’t wait to get to Kulti! I thought it was good. It’s the first I’ve read by the two of them and curious to see how they grow as they continue to write more together. Did you meet them at Book Bonanza?

    1. Thank you dear! I hope you enjoy them too and curious to know your thoughts on the audio of Dirty Headlines. I’m starting to listen to audiobooks more lately, but it takes me so much longer to get through them usually.
