Wednesday Shuffle ~ Bookin’ it with the Belles!

I did a little bookin’ it with the Belles last weekend!

Oh, you bet I did!

Last weekend, I attended Holidays with the Belles here in Dallas and had such a blast! I always enjoy author signings, so I try to attend them when I can and especially when they’re so close to home. The Southern Belle Events are always fun and well-organized, and this year they also had a fantastic line up of attending authors as well!

Although I love going to these type of events, I have to admit they are a pretty nerve-wracking for me. I get overwhelmed in really large groups of people, and no matter how prepared or how many of these I’ve been to, I can’t ever ward off the nervous butterflies!

And then there’s my ‘fangirling’ issue…. I am the worst at keeping my inner fan girl at bay! What can I say? When writers have such talent to get me all caught up in the feels with their words, I just can’t help but lose my mind a little bit, right?

I loved visiting with them all on a more personal level and asking questions about what makes them write what they do. Since I’ve become a huge fan of Mariana Zapata’s writing over the last year, I felt really lucky to be able to spend quite a bit of time with her mother while waiting in line. These are the little nuances that I really enjoy about these events, and I loved hearing her thoughts on her Mariana’s romance writing.

I have to admit, it also touches my heart when so many of the authors recognize me now and let me know how much they appreciate my support and blogging efforts. It really makes my ‘little hobby’ even more worthwhile!

I also loved seeing familiar faces of fellow bookies and bloggers that I’ve met over the years. This year was especially fun since I FINALLY found a book club here last fall with similar reading interests as mine. They came with us as well, so it was great to have ‘my girls’ with me too!

Here’s a few of the photos from the signing. After reviewing them, I’ve discovered that I’m really going to have to work on my poses. I seem to make a lot of crazy faces and need to work on keeping those eyes open!

And of course, major kuddos to my Daisy Guy who continues to be the amazing rockstar that he always is! Three years ago, I bought us tickets to Austin Book Fest and told him we were going to our first romance signing. Although I did get some ‘eyebrows’ about it then, he still happily goes with me Every. Single. Time. Yes, I know he enjoys all the attention he gets being one of the very few men at these events, but regardless, I love how he supports me and all of my interests!

Isn’t he cute? Happy Valentine’s Day hon, this is your Hallmark card from me… I’m even highlighting it, so I hope you read this!

Anyhoo…I’m definitely going to be in recovery mode for a while. Yep, I’m old. AND of course, you can’t leave a signing without a bazillion new books, so I certainly have some reading to do now!

Speaking of reading… On to the books!

I recently finished Hollywood Playboy by Natasha Madison, and I really enjoyed it! This is my first read by her and the first standalone in her Hollywood Royalty Series. If you are looking for a good enemies-to-lovers Hollywood romance, I definitely recommend it, and the second book in the series, Hollywood Princess, will be releasing February 26th!

I’m currently reading The Risk (Briar U #2) by Elle Kennedy. Gosh, if I’m not a complete sucker for a good hockey sports romance. I’m not too far in yet, but so far I’m really loving Jake and Brenna!

I’ve been listening to ‘Fast Talk’ by Houses…

I only stumbled upon this band recently, and I really like them! The singer kind of has a Michael Bublé vibe to him, which I really love… Is that weird? I’m finding that their music pairs nicely with a good cup of java (or glass of wine?)!

Happy early Valentine’s Day! I’ll be having a giveaway to celebrate tomorrow, so make sure to stop back by! (I’ll keep it short, I promise!)

  1. Oh Daisy you met Kate and Emma!!!! I am so happy for you and I got to see your lovely face 😉 I can’t wait for RARE Paris in less than two months now! And kudos to your Daisy guy! My hubes never comes with me but my daughter follows. Except this time as she’ll be away with school and I’ll fly solo. I am reading The Risk too and I love it!!!

    1. Yes! I’ve met Kate before but this was a first to meet Emma Scott! I actually told her that I started her books at your recommendation, and she spoke of how lovely you are! I’m excited to hear about your signing at RARE in Paris – how fantastic! ❤️

  2. This post makes me feel so many things! First, jealous because that event looks like so much fun! Plus, I would have loved to have seen you again. Second, I love seeing you and your hubby at events. It’s so cool! I need to drag mine along to the next one I go to. Happy Valentine’s Day!

P.S. That looks like a great stack of books!

    1. It was a great time, Deanna, and I would love to see you again! Let me know if you will be at any upcoming ones. That was the stack I took, and you wouldn’t believe what I brought back. I have GOT to get more bookshelf space! 😳
