🤓 What’s a book that you were totally late to the party in reading? * 🐫 Happy Hump Day bookies, I hope that you’re all doing well! Quite awhile back, the lovely Sophie @bewareofthereader and I challenged each other to read some books outside the norm this year. I rarely read any type of fantasy, so she suggested SIX OF CROWS by @lbardugo, and in turn, I wanted her to read one of my favorite audiobooks of last year, DAISY JONES & THE SIX by @tjenkinsreid. I’m excited to say our little challenge was a win-win for both of us! * 📚 SIX OF CROWS was a bit of a slow-go for me at first, but I’m not as accustomed to the world building in fantasy reads. However, once I got rolling, the well-developed and action-packed story really kept me on my toes! * 📚 Of course, I had to dive right into the second book in this duet, CROOKED KINGDOM, and it really played on my emotions as even more of the characters’ depths were revealed. The romance elements broke my heart a bit, but it was yet another suspenseful and wild ride. Overall I’m very impressed with Bardugo’s writing and am glad I stepped outside of the box and found a new author to enjoy! * ❓Have you read the Six of Crows Duology or any other books by Leigh Bardugo? 🤔 What’s your reboot in life or reading when you find yourself in a rut? * 🌺 Well howdy and Happy Monday book friends! My hubs turned 50 last week, and since we couldn’t really do a big celebration this year, we decided a little isolated cabin getaway at the lake would be a nice regroup and reset. Of course it rained, but it was so relaxing and nice to enjoy a different view for a little while! * 🏒 One of my favorite reading ‘reboots’ when I’m in a slump are sports romances, so I’m definitely excited to dive into this one! SURE SHOT released last week and is a new standalone in @sarina.bowen’s Brooklyn Series. ☕️ Coffee or tea? All day long? * ☕️ Happy Monday and happy May friends! I know it’s been awhile since my last post, and I’m really looking forward to a new month and catching up with you all! I absolutely love my coffee, and it’s a must-have for me first thing in the morning. 🤷‍♀️ Who’s a newer-to-you author that you’re totally loving lately? * 🌿 Happy Tuesday bookworms, hope you’re all doing well! So in my determination to get through my backlist TBR, I have really come to love Kennedy Ryan’s writing- have you read her before? * 🐢 I read my first books by her only a few months ago but haven’t found a single one that I didn’t thoroughly enjoy! The strength of her heroes and heroines is certainly to be admired, and combined with their thought-provoking storylines make for such realistic and consuming reads. And then there’s the emotions... Boy, her books really get me in the feels every single time! * 🌿 If you haven’t been introduced to @kennedyryan1 yet, I definitely recommend all of these reads below. I finished her Grip Series last week, and it was so good and left me in a total hangover! Up next for me is the second standalone in the Hoops Series, BLOCK SHOT, and the new standalone QUEEN MOVE, which is Kimba’s story from the All The King’s Men Duet, and is releasing on May 26th! * ~ All the King’s Men Duet - THE KINGMAKER & THE REBEL KING ~ LONG SHOT (Hoops Series #1) ~ Grip Series - FLOW, GRIP, & STILL * ❓So, how’s your hair? Mine is shorter, and I’m really trying to embrace the ‘crazy hair, don’t care’ motto. 🌸 Have you been doing any virtual meetups with friends during this long stay at home? * 🌸 Well howdy, and Happy Friday friends! I haven’t ever done virtual meetups before (other than on FaceTime if that really counts), but we recently did a virtual happy hour via Zoom with some of our friends. It was so easy and fun, and I recommend everyone trying it out if you haven’t. It totally made my week to catch up and see everyone’s smiling faces! * 🌸 Speaking of fun things to do with friends, I’m participating in a buddy read this month of THE FRIEND ZONE by @authorabbyjimenez. I’ve been really excited to read this one - especially since THE HAPPY EVER AFTER PLAYLIST released this week. I’m about halfway through right now, and I’ve gotta say that Josh is pretty dreamy and I’m loving his witty and playful banter with Kristen as well! * 🌸 I can definitely see why Jimenez has so many big fans out there! 🤷‍♀️ What’s the last trip you took??? * 👋🏻 Well, happy Thursday book friends! If I didn’t have the calendar right in front of me I probably couldn’t tell you what day of the week it is- they’re all starting to blur together these days! 🤪 * 📷 Today’s #bookishladiesapr20 is Library Love, so here’s a little #TBT at the Eureka Springs Carnegie Public Library from our family vacay last month. It was built back in 1912 and SO neat (check out that stained glass window) - I only wish I could’ve gone in and stayed for awhile! * 💕 My hubs and I celebrated our 20 year anniversary yesterday, so I also added a fun pic of us on from our trip last month. We’re supposed to be celebrating in Canada this week, but it was meatloaf and homemade cards for us for now - romantic right? Regardless, I’m a lucky lady to have such a sweet and loving husband, and I think the best part after all this time is that we still have so much fun together! * ❓So, what are you up to reading-wise this week? * 📚 I’m reading KILL SWITCH by Penelope Douglas. This series is super steamy and totally addictive! 🔥👀 * 🎧 I’m listening to the audiobook of FROM LUKOV WITH LOVE by Mariana Zapata.
