DaisyGal’s Review
‘Love, Chloe’ by Alessandra Torre is the charming story of Chloe Carmichael as she struggles to find herself in New York after her families’ fall from financial grace. Abandoned by her disinterested parents, apartmentless, and without a job, Chloe has to start anew with some amazing support from her friends. She is also trying to make a clean break from her ex-boyfriend who is the ultimate spoiled rich boy, and when she meets Carter, her building supervisor, she questions whether that type of man could ever be enough for her.
I think it would be quite a challenge for Torre to put this book together from her Boston Love Letters she wrote for Cosmopolitan magazine, but I think that she did a great job with this. I did feel a little bit of a disconnect with Chloe’s character in the beginning – the flow was a little choppy for me – but it very well could have been that she was just so spoiled I wasn’t sure that I liked her. However, she did grow on me, and I enjoyed the fun nuances in her story-line as Chloe struggled to find herself and what she wanted out of her life, as well as the courage to stand up for what she believed in with people in her life.
Unlike many of Torre’s darker books, this is a fun and light-hearted story. It has many unique characteristics in the story-line, and there were also some unexpected twists as well that really pulled me in. I am always intrigued by stories set in New York City, and I guess I am still a kid at heart, because I really enjoyed the pictures of Chloe’s Instagram posts in the book as well. I remain a huge fan of Alessandra Torre, and I thought this was a very sweet and endearing read!
‘4 Stars and definitely recommend!’
