5 Star Reads & Oh No, Say It Ain’t So…It’s Almost Time for Game of Thrones!

www.dgbookblog.com.oh.no.gameofthrones

Oh my gosh! I mentioned on my Instagram awhile back that I have been on a bit of a hiatus. I have had a ridiculously hard time getting into my reading lately. I can’t decide what to read and then when I finally do, I don’t finish. I feel antsy, and it is driving me nuts! Have I fallen into the notorious ‘book slump?’ Am I sick? Who knows!

I actually think Game of Thrones is to blame as a culprit in my mystery illness! Honestly, I never watch shows like this. I’m not a huge fan of this era, and that’s probably why it took me so long to give it a chance. Everyone has told me that I have to watch it, and I finally broke down and did… and I couldn’t stop! Episode after episode, after episode of binge-watching! It totally consumed me, and I think it just sucked the creativity straight out of my brain! It’s like being at a crawfish boil with 5 pounds of those stinky little critters laid out and not being able to stop eating until the very last one. The show is brutal – full of sex and gore – but so damn good! The new season starts this Sunday, July 16th, and I am a bit nervous about my problematic ‘state’ it could leave me in. Since I’ll have to wait a week in between episodes maybe it won’t be so bad!

Am I excited for it this new season? Hells yeah! Do you watch Game of Thrones? Does it have this effect on you?

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Every now and again I just need a change of pace from my normal and sweet storylines, want to turn it up a notch, and let’s be honest here, Laurelin Paige is certainly a Queen of dark and angsty romance! Her creativity offers such unique and page-turning escapes from the mundane. Her characters are flawed, sometimes with even angry and twisted souls, but she somehow transforms them to be the ones that I root for and adore. Bombshell (Hollywood A-List, #1)Bombshell by C.D. Reiss

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book really surprised me! Not that I would ever really doubt CD Reiss’s incredible writing, but in the way that I didn’t expect the characters and story to have as much depth to them as they did. You know what I mean, light-hearted story… bad boy movie star realizes he has a child…falls for the nanny…seems pretty simple right? Color me so-over-the-top-happy-that-I-was-wrong surprised, there is so much more to both these characters and this story! Continue Reading
