He’s a Wall Street wolf. She’s been hired to tame him. From New York Times bestselling author Lauren Layne comes a wildly sexy novel of business and pleasure.

Twenty-eight and filthy rich, Matt Cannon is the youngest broker on Wall Street. He may be a “boy wonder,” but he’s every inch a man. Ask any woman—any night. But when Matt’s latest fling makes scandalous headlines, his clients get anxious, and his bosses at Wolfe Investments level an ultimatum: keep his assets zipped, get a “real” girlfriend, and clean up his act. Only one woman can help Matt with something this hard.

For PR genius Sabrina Cross, the best fixer in Manhattan, playing Matt’s steady is going to be a challenge, even if it’s just for show. They already have an explosive history, she can’t stand the cocky party boy, and worse—she can’t stop thinking about him. So who’ll dare to break her “no touching” rule first? Because when that happens, Matt and Sabrina’s game of let’s pretend will get so hot it could set both their reputations on fire.

MyReview

www.dgbookblog.com:hard.sell.lauren.layne.insta2After reading the first book in this series, Hot Asset, I have been dying to know the history between Matt and Sabrina’s characters. These two couldn’t even be in the same room for two minutes without some type of bickering! Needless to say, my anticipation was high going into this, and it did not disappoint. Lauren Layne’s Hard Sell is yet another super sweet, fun, and sexy romance in this 21 Wall Street Series!

My goodness, Matt and Sabrina totally cracked me up in this story! Their characters both had such a charm and grace about them, unless they were actually dealing with each other. Then their fangs would come out of nowhere, full of feisty venom and nastiness. Forced to now spend copious amounts of time together to pull off their charade, they had to deal with their past but were also re-acquainted with their already established friendship of sorts. Then, of course, there was that attraction to each other to contend with as well…

‘The hardest thing is going to be keeping my hands off the only woman I’ve ever wanted.’

Matt and Sabrina’s romance was really sweet to follow. They were both just so determined to fight off their feelings for each other, completely adverse to relationships of any kind. However, their dual point of views really showed how much they truly cared for each other and mentally begged for the other to give in to their feelings. Matt and Sabrina really had a crazy passionate pull between them, and I loved finally seeing them open up and see how well they fit together as a couple. I totally rooted for them as they sorted out their feelings!

‘She whirls toward me, and the air all but crackles around us. With anger, with sexual tension, with whatever else is between us, always.’

Layne’s writing is just so refreshing with her fun storylines filled with heart and feeling. This was unique in that she was hoping to convey it as more of a ‘frenemies to lover’s romance,’ and I really enjoyed that she did. The story was light and moved at a fast pace, although there were a few angsty moments. I did think there might be a little more to what initially sent Matt and Sabrina sideways, and the ending also wrapped up a bit quickly for me. However, it didn’t affect the overall feeling, and sometimes when I’m really enjoying a good story, I hate for it to end!

I am just loving this 21 Wall Street series of standalones, and I absolutely adore all of the characters with their friendships, love, and loyalty between them. These make for really fun reads, and I’m definitely looking forward to Kennedy and Kate’s story next in Huge Deal, slated for March 2019!

  1. I adore LL! She actually grew up in the same city I did. That makes how much fun her books are even sweeter. I loved this one, too. My only issue was that I wanted to know MORE about Sabrina’s job. I am with you on not being able to wait for Kennedy and Kate’s story. Great review!

    1. Thanks! That’s so cool you live where she grew up too. There are few authors that I really enjoy that are from here and include details that only someone familiar would catch, making their stories feel more of a personal touch! Now that you mentioned it, I thought about Sabrina’s job situation too. I think at one point, it said she was an escort, but I guess not in the sexual kind of escort way???

    1. Thanks hon! I need to start listening to audibles again…I tend to forget about them! I like this series (it’s my first by her) and was really excited about Matt and Sabrina’s story going into this. Curious to know your thoughts on the audio when you get to it! ❤️
