Wednesday Shuffle ~ Ninety-Two!

It’s been a bit since I’ve done a #WednesdayShuffle, so here’s the skinny…

We’re not normally Netflix watchers and usually don’t watch a whole lot of TV really. When I do, however, I enjoy relaxing with a good book in hand and a baseball or football game in the background. However, my ‘Daisy Brother’ got us kind of hooked on Netflix last year, which really messes with my reading time! It all started with ‘Game of Thrones’, and from there we flew through ‘Breaking Bad’, ‘Stranger Things’, ‘Ozarks’, ‘Peaky Blinders’ (total favorite), and recently ‘Sons of Anarchy’.

What’s the problem you may ask?

THE BINGE!

Yes, that’s right my friends, seven seasons and NINETY-TWO FREAKING EPISODES of ‘Sons of Anarchy’! It started with just an episode or two an evening, and then somehow we found ourselves up until 1:00 AM. We are way too old for this!

The crazy part (ok, another crazy part) is that I’m not even a fan of the motorcycle club scene at all, so it really was a toss up for me as to whether or not I really liked the show at first. But from season two on, we were hooked and couldn’t stop. I was really drawn to both the story and the characters and kept saying ‘Oh, he’s really sweet even though he keeps killing people right and left!’

It was also exciting enough to keep the hubs awake, which is a pretty impressive feat in itself. I’m glad we watched it even though it’s an older series, and now at least I know what all the fuss was about. At the end of the day, I won’t be jumping on a Harley anytime soon, but I really did enjoy the escape of this addictive series!

We’re going to take a little Neflix break now but plan to watch ‘The Crown’ and ‘Outlaw King’ next. Time to get back to the real world for awhile!

So, about the books…

I finished Heartbreak Warfare by Heather M. Orgernon and Kate Stewart last week, and it left me with a major book hangover. Have you read it yet? It’s a beautiful and heartbreaking read that is going to stick with me for a long time, but it’s also left me really unsure of what to read next!

Since I’m needing a little more of a light-hearted romance, I’m currently listening to the audiobook for The Kiss Quotient by Helen Hoang. So far, it’s super cute!

Music-wise, I’m really feeling the groovy beats lately… Have you listened to Mike Posner’s ‘Song About You’? Love it!

I think I’m all shopped up and ready for the family to be in town for the holiday.

I hope yours is a great one!

  1. Don’t get me started on binge watching Netflix and Amazon Prime Video. If you plan to start Crown, get ready to binge again! My husband and I have binge watched Luther, Happy Valley, Bosch, The Fall (though we haven’t finished the final season), Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel and more.

  2. So much to talk about here!
First, I love what they’ve done with GoT. I like the TV show more than the books!
Second, Sons of Anarchy. I loved that show. I am not a big TV watcher. I also don’t like intense or violent shows…BUT SoA is a show that I watched to the end through all the seasons. It was so good. I actually liked it enough to start watching the Mayans MC spin-off this year. Which leads me to another question. Have you ever read Beth Flynn’s Nine Minutes? SoA reminds me a lot of it. I loved that series.
Third, I listened to The Kiss Quotient, too! It was so much fun!!! I hope you continue to love it.

    1. I almost read the GoT books, since the break, but got a little overwhelmed…looking forward to the coming season. Are you enjoying the Mayans? We thought about moving on to it but decided we were good for awhile on the MC. Honestly, I haven’t read any MC romance – 😬 – but it seems that people that enjoy MC REALLY enjoy it. Maybe I’ll have to give it a try if you enjoyed it so much!

      1. I wouldn’t really classify Nine Minutes as an MC romance. It has a romance, but it’s almost more of a psychological thriller.
I am enjoying the Mayans, but it’s taking a lot of time to build up.
