Method by Kate Stewart
Contemporary Romance

Stand Alone

~ Synopsis ~

Hollywood is a temptress, a trickster, a soul-stealing devil. I married an A-list player, knowing I come second place to his craft. But Lucas and I are a golden couple, a modern-day fairy tale.

I’ve never doubted what we built…until the sudden death of Lucas’s best friend has scandal rocking the Hills and shaking the foundation of our relationship.

I chose Lucas as my safe haven…he chose the role of a lifetime.

For the next three months, I’ll share my nights with a stranger, watching as he buries his pain, immersed in his role and living as someone else.

We’ve done this before. I tell myself it’s just another movie, and he’ll return to me.

I should’ve known this time would be different.

To get my husband back, I’ll need the strength of ten men.

As it turns out, I’ll have to go through two.

Where does Kate Stewart come up with her fascinating stories??? Method took me on such an incredible ride, and since I honestly can’t say that I’ve read anything quite like this before, it leaves Stewart to reign at the very top as one of my favorite queens of romance writing!

‘You changed my luck, Dame. And for the first time in my life, I feel like if I ever need rescuing, I’ll have somebody there to help save me.’

Mila and Lucas’s characters were amazing in this story! They were both so strongly supportive of each other, and with their intense chemistry and passion, it was so apparent how very much in love they were. I really liked Mila’s honesty and temperament. She wasn’t going to hold back from speaking her mind, yet she wasn’t cruel about it either. Lucas was so appreciative of his acting career that he had fought so hard for, as well as to have Mila, his Dame, in his life. I imagined him to be like Bradley Cooper, with his subtle charm and humbleness, but you can imagine him however you like! Regardless, Mila and Lucas were the perfect Hollywood couple that everyone dreams about… until they weren’t.

‘Don’t ever compromise your dreams for anyone or anything, Lucas. Life won’t cooperate with you if you do.’

The story was told in flashbacks to Mila and Lucas’s past as their relationship evolved, and also in the present from both of their perspectives. I’ll admit that I grew a little impatient that so much of the story was revealed through their flashbacks and would have liked a little more of the here and now sooner, but oh, the anticipation! I realize that this also allowed Stewart to share more of Mila and Lucas’s touching relationships with the secondary characters, and I was also super excited that Stella and Reid from Drive had a cameo appearance as well!

‘It took days, months, and years to build us, and with one final act, he’s destroying it all.’

Stewart is a mastermind at creating unique and compelling stories that tend to stir up all kinds of emotion in me, so I was pretty anxious going into this read to see if she was going to annihilate my heart. I don’t really want to give too much of Mila and Lucas’s story away, but I’ll tell you that it was incredibly passionate and angsty, and while Stewart definitely dealt a heavy hand of issues throughout, she wrote them in a very tender and caring way.

They covered the whole spectrum of relationships in life with trust, loyalty, and sacrifices made in both friendships and marriage, to the even tougher topics of dealing with grief, guilt, and mental illnesses. Stewart’s writing felt very raw and realistic with some very heartbreaking moments, and it was also profound in how it makes you stop and pay more attention to the consequences of your choices and decisions, as well as appreciate the beautiful moments in everyday life even more.

Every time that I hear that Kate Stewart has a new book coming out, it’s an automatic ‘yes please’ for me, and clearly, that isn’t going to change any time soon. Method is a fantastic story and a must-read romance!
