IN THE BEGINNING…

They told them they were evil.
They told them they were possessed by demons.
They told them that darkness ran in their veins.

Holy Innocents Home for Children is a haven for orphaned boys who have nothing and no one. The priests watch over them, educate them, raise them in the family of the church.

Except for some.

Seven of the orphans are no ordinary boys. They attract the attention of the priests for their acts of violence, of bloodlust. The priests realize these boys are drawn to the darkness.

And the priests are no ordinary priests. They are the Brethren, a secret sect who believe themselves on a divine mission to seek out evil in the boys in their care. Seek it out, and then drive it out.

The seven have fallen from God’s grace. And the Brethren will cleanse their blackened souls…

Dark Contemporary Romance novella. Contains sexual situations, violence, sensitive and taboo subjects, offensive language and topics some may find triggering. Recommended for age 18 years and up.

www.dgbookblog.com/MyReviewOk, this is my first read by Tillie Cole, and since I’ve been seeing The Fallen: Genesis, the prequel to Raphael and her new Deadly Virtues Series around everywhere, thought this would be a great introduction to her writing. All I can say is that Cole really blew me away with how well she submerged me into this world of the Fallen. The story was mysterious with truly heartbreaking moments, and I am so intrigued by the characters. I have no idea what to expect or where this story is headed, but I can’t wait to know more and dive into Raphael next!

Please note that the prequel, The Fallen: Genesis, must be read before you start this series. Also please be sure to check out the author’s note regarding certain triggers if you have issues with them.

They are the Fallen. A brotherhood of murderers whose nature compels them to kill. But guided by their leader, Gabriel, the Fallen have learned to use their urges to rid the world of those it is better off without.

For Raphael, sex and death are intertwined. Where there is one, there must be the other. He is a lust killer, luring his victims with the face of an angel and a body built for sin.

And Raphael lives to sin.

His newest mission takes him into the sadistic underworld of Boston’s secret sex clubs, and puts him face to face with his greatest fantasy made flesh.

Maria is everything he’s ever dreamed of, the kill he’s always longed for. She’s not his target. And he knows he must resist. But the temptation is too strong…

Yet Raphael is not the only one with a mission. Maria is not quite what she seems. And as her secrets and Raphael’s unravel, Maria begins to question everything she thought she knew—about evil, about the place she calls home, and about the beautiful sinner she was sent to destroy.

Dark Contemporary Romance. Contains sexual situations, violence, sensitive and taboo subjects, offensive language and topics some may find triggering. Recommended for age 18 years and up.

The Fallen: Genesis a prequel novella in The Deadly Virtues Series and MUST be read before RAPHAEL www.dgbookblog.com:scrollwww.dgbookblog.com/MyReview

www.dgbookblog.com:raphael.tillie.cole.insta2After reading the prequel The Fallen: Genesis in Tillie Cole’s Deadly Virtues Series, I couldn’t wait to dive into Raphael, and holy wow, this was so dark and incredibly intense!

With Raphael’s craving for sex and death, I can’t say that I’ve encountered many heroes like him before in my reading endeavors. I mean, he was brutal but somehow Cole made me understand and almost relate to his character. Maria was so innocent and sweet, and man, did I totally worry for her. There were many times that I felt irritated with her easy submission and trust in Raphael. However, as the story evolved, she did have a quiet strength about her.

Cole is truly an incredible storyteller, and Raphael and Maria’s romance was full of twists and turns and everything that I never could’ve guessed at coming. Clearly, they had a very unusual relationship, which actually about killed me in the end. I couldn’t put this down for a moment, and I’m actually still reeling in WTF Land after reading this – there’s really no other way to describe it!

I’m not seeing a release date for the rest of the books in this series, but I’m sure of pins and needles waiting for them. If you’re looking for really dark romances that are completely consuming, I highly recommend this series!

Please note that the prequel, The Fallen: Genesis must be read first and check out the author’s note regarding certain triggers if you have issues with them – these are not fluffy romances! www.dgbookblog.com/DGBlogRatings5

Amazon & USA Today Best Selling Author, Tillie Cole, is a Northern girl through and through. She originates from a place called Teesside on that little but awesomely sunny (okay I exaggerate) Isle called Great Britain. She was brought up surrounded by her English rose mother — a farmer’s daughter, her crazy Scottish father, a savagely sarcastic sister and a multitude of rescue animals and horses.

Being a scary blend of Scottish and English, Tillie embraces both cultures; her English heritage through her love of HP sauce and freshly made Yorkshire Puddings, and her Scottish which is mostly demonstrated by her frighteningly foul-mouthed episodes of pure rage and her much loved dirty jokes.

Having been born and raised as a Teesside Smoggie, Tillie, at age nineteen, moved forty miles north to the ‘Toon’, Newcastle-Upon-Tyne, where she attended Newcastle University and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts honours degree in Religious Studies. She returned two years later to complete a Post-Graduate Certificate in Teaching High School Social Studies. Tillie, regards Newcastle to be a home from home and enjoyed the Newcastle Geordie way of life for seven ‘proper mint’ and ‘lush’ years.

One summers day, after finishing reading her thousandth book on her much loved and treasured Kindle, Tillie turned to her husband and declared, “D’you know, I have a great idea for a story. I could write a book.” Several months later, after repeating the same tired line at the close of another completed story, she was scolded by her husband to shut up talking about writing a novel and “just bloody do it!” For the first time in eleven years, Tillie actually took his advice (he is still trying to get over the shock) and immediately set off on a crazy journey, delving deep into her fertile imagination.

Tillie, ever since, has written from the heart. She combines her passion for anything camp and glittery with her love of humour and dark brooding men (most often muscled and tattooed – they’re her weakness!). She also has a serious side (believe it or not!) and loves to immerse herself in the complex study of World Religions, History and Cultural Studies and creates fantasy stories that enable her to thread serious issues and topics into her writing — yep, there’s more to this girl than profanity and sparkles!

After six years of teaching high school Social Studies and following her Professional Rugby Player husband around Europe, they have finally given up their nomadic way of life and settled in Calgary, Alberta where Tillie spends most of her days (and many a late night) lost in a writing euphoria or pursuing a dazzling career as a barrel-racing, tasselled-chap wearing, Stetson-sporting cowgirl… Ye-haw!
