Tiffy and Leon share a flat
Tiffy and Leon share a bed
Tiffy and Leon have never met…

Tiffy Moore needs a cheap flat, and fast. Leon Twomey works nights and needs cash. Their friends think they’re crazy, but it’s the perfect solution: Leon occupies the one-bed flat while Tiffy’s at work in the day, and she has the run of the place the rest of the time.

But with obsessive ex-boyfriends, demanding clients at work, wrongly imprisoned brothers and, of course, the fact that they still haven’t met yet, they’re about to discover that if you want the perfect home you need to throw the rulebook out the window…’ve heard so much hub-bub about The Flatshare by Beth O’Leary, so when I found out there was a buddy read for it, I had to jump in. I also chose to listen to the audiobook as well, because, hello British accents!

O’Leary’s debut novel was such a delightful read, and the story was so quaint and unique! I loved Tiffy and Leon’s characters and how much they grew throughout in this super slow-burning romance. I also really enjoyed the charming secondary characters as well.

Overall this was a hit for me as well as our group, and I definitely recommend the audiobook because the narrators made the story so much fun. If you are looking for a really sweet and light-hearted read, The Flatshare is one you’ll want to pick up!

~ The Switch by Beth O’Leary ~

Audiobook narrated by Daisy Edgar-Jones & Alison Steadman

Release Date ~ August 8, 2020

A grandmother and granddaughter swap lives in The Switch, a charming, romantic novel by Beth O’Leary.

When overachiever Leena Cotton is ordered to take a two-month sabbatical after blowing a big presentation at work, she escapes to her grandmother Eileen’s house for some long-overdue rest.

Eileen is newly single and about to turn eighty. She’d like a second chance at love, but her tiny Yorkshire village doesn’t offer many eligible gentlemen.

So they decide to try a two-month swap.

Eileen will live in London and look for love. She’ll take Leena’s flat, and learn all about casual dating, swiping right, and city neighbors. Meanwhile, Leena will look after everything in rural Yorkshire: Eileen’s sweet cottage and garden, her idyllic, quiet village, and her little neighborhood projects.

But stepping into one another’s shoes proves more difficult than either of them expected. Will swapping lives help Eileen and Leena find themselves…and maybe even find true love? In Beth O’Leary’s The Switch, it’s never too late to change everything….or to find yourself. really enjoying the audio of The Flatshare earlier this year, I knew this was one I needed to get my hands on!

The Switch was yet another quaint and unique story, and Leena and her grandmother, Eileen, were such charming and genuine characters! I really enjoyed their different points of view, and I loved the refreshing look into the thoughts of an elder yet very vivacious woman. The narrators with their British accents were such a delight to listen to as well- especially Eileen’s sweet voice who made me reminiscent of the conversations that I used to have with my Memaw before she passed years ago.

While the story was definitely lighter on the romance scale, this was such a fun and heartwarming read. I definitely recommend it and know I’ll also be grabbing up O’Leary’s next book, The Road Trip, which releases next year! kindly provided by NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Beth O’Leary studied English at university before going into children’s publishing. She lives as close to the countryside as she can get while still being within reach of London, and wrote her first novel, The Flatshare, on her train journey to and from work.
You’ll usually find her curled up with a book, a cup of tea, and several woolly jumpers (whatever the weather).

  1. I keep seeing these two everywhere and keep thinking I should read them. I think I’m going to wait until school starts up. Maybe I can listen with headphones once my daughter’s entrenched in school work. I think I want that experience you had with their voices. 😉 Great reviews!

  2. So happy you enjoyed it!!! Now comes the shocker, I’m actually having trouble with the audiobook. One of the narrations is rubbing me wrong 😭, I don’t know if I can finish it. I’m just so glad I already read the book 😂

    1. Thanks Corina, and oh no! Is it Eileen’s voice? It’s really different, but I ended up really enjoying her sweet grandmotherly voice. Definitely glad you read the book first, because it’s such a sweet and fun story! 💕

        1. You might want to try… It was funny because I was thinking it was strange with her pauses and stuff like that in the beginning, but it made me think of my grandmother, so it grew on me and ended up working out. Honestly, I don’t think I’ve ever listened to an audio with a ‘senior’ voice before!
