Bedwrecker by Kim Karr
Release Date: November 3, 2016
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Cover Design: Shanoff Formats
Cover Model: Robson Costa
Synopsis:
Every girl has had a broken heart.
Every girl knows love hurts.
Every girl has a story.
This is mine…
My name is Maggie May and I met him under a haze of purple lights. As cliché as it sounds he was tall, dark, and handsome as hell, and I had fireworks in my eyes…literally.
It was New Year’s Eve and beneath the magic of all that glitters and shines, I fell for him and his wicked ways. The way he moved, the way he touched me, the way he brought me to orgasm over and over.
You should know that I don’t believe in love. Fairytales and happily-ever-afters are never anything I’ve dreamed of…until him.
Something changed the moment our eyes met. It wasn’t insta-lust or insta-love, it was simply him and me, and the dance floor at our feet.
The problem is our story ended three days after it started.
But now he’s back.
And he says he’s sorry.
Can I believe him?
Do I want to believe him?
He calls me his bedwrecker…but what if he wrecks me?
DaisyGal’s Review:
I would like to offer up a toast to ‘the most imperfectly perfect couple’ and yet another great writing by Kim Karr!
‘Bedwrecker’ is a light-hearted and fun romance, and boy did it have some steam and sizzle! I completely fell in love with the swoon worthy Keen Masters and the feistier than hell Maggie May, and each had such unique and strong personalities. They fought so steadfastly over who would be the boss, and I loved how composed they tried to be when each of them were completely rocking the other’s world. Maggie was so independent and Keen was so solid in his ‘all or nothing’ ways. I loved how much he adored Maggie and had such determination in winning her back.
The many intricate details and nuances combined throughout really made the story even more touching, true to life, and relatable to me…
I always really enjoy it when authors include ‘texty’ banter between characters in books. I think that interaction is fun and makes them even more true to life, especially since we all live on social media these days. The story had dual POV, which I am always a fan of because it gives the story more depth of the characters. It was also great to see more of Cam, Makayla, and Brooklyn from the previous book, ‘No Pants Required’.
The musical references in the story were very effective as well. I totally got Maggie as Rod Stewart’s ‘Bedwrecker’. I also saw mention that Karr was inspired by the Taylor Swift song, ‘Red.’ When I watched the video, and it got to the line where Swift sings ‘lovin’ him was like burning red,’ it gave me goose bumps! I could totally feel and relate the passion of that line to that in which was conveyed so well between Keen and Maggie.
I also loved Maggie’s courage, quirkiness, and her unique fashion sense. Sparkly white converse instead of her ‘f**k me white pumps’ on the Big Day? Fantastic! Which also brings me to Keen being the fairy tale Prince Charming – are you kidding me? Equally suited in his white suit, black shirt, and white tie of course, and the whole event was spot on, completely hot, and totally romantic!
There seems to be complete consistency in reading Karr’s novels for me, and it is that they always put such a smile on my face! Every one of them is unique with its own style and diverse in its storylines, so each always has a fresh feel. While some are angsty and suspenseful others are light-hearted. She continues to create and keep me on my toes ready for her next book. I can always count on loving her characters. They all seem to encompass such a reality to them with their own hearts, imperfect qualities, and the witty humor she instills in within each. I’m not sure how she is able make me fall in love with them, but it seems like every time I do and Keen and Maggie certainly found a place in my heart.
I was actually really sad for Keen and Maggie’s story to end, but only because now I have to wait for her next release. This is definitely a favorite for me that I highly recommend, and I am absolutely looking forward to Brooklyn’s story in ‘Pantydropper’, Chase’s story in ‘Heartbreaker’, and ‘Tie the Knot’ which is Cam and Makayla’s final chapter!
