The Wrong Gentleman by Louise Bay
Release Date: February 19th

I’m an all-or-nothing man—100 percent focused on whatever has my attention.

First it was serving my country in the Special Forces. Then it was building my business. Right now it’s the hot blonde at the bar who’s about to become another notch on my bedpost.

But women never keep my attention for more than a night.

Until I peel off Skylar Anderson’s clothes and her mask starts to crumble, showing me glimpses of the girl she’s hiding. She’s funny, sexy and vulnerable and throws me out of bed before I can catch my breath and suggest breakfast.

When I start my last undercover job on a yacht, turns out, she’s one of the crew. I try, but I can’t look away.

Her high ponytail shows off her kissable neck that tastes like summer.

Her short uniform reveals the killer legs that were wrapped around me last night.

And her provocative smile? I know what that mouth is capable of.

I want to explore her body, discover her secrets and sail off into the sunset with her.

I might want to go all in for Skylar, but she should stay away from me. I’ve got secrets of my own and they can only bring her trouble.

This is a stand-alone novel.

Back to the dreamy setting of superyachts and sexy Brits, The Wrong Gentleman by Louise Bay was a sweet, steamy, and suspenseful romance!

Landon and Skylar both had such strong and independent characters! Wealthy and successful, Landon was all business, and his loyalty to both his job and country was definitely to be admired. Skylar was hard-working, dedicated, and solely focused on her career, the only thing that she would allow herself to rely on.

‘She was tough, skeptical, and suspicious on the outside and like warm honey and spun sugar on the inside.’

Neither Landon nor Skylar were open to relationships, but they became distractions that neither could ignore. The dual point of views revealed their struggle with opening up to each other, and I loved how they softened each other’s hard edges and naturally they fell into sync together. There was such a magnetic pull between Landon and Skylar which only enhanced the slow burning sizzle brewing between them.

‘Let me take your nightmares. Have only sweet dreams,’ he whispered before turning and disappearing into his cabin. Landon couldn’t take my nightmares away. I’d lived them. And I had no intention of going back.’

The story was both well written and a fast paced and engaging read. It also had an added element of suspense, although I did wish the reason for Landon being on the yacht would have been a little more difficult to resolve. There were a few aspects of Landon and Skylar’s relationship that evolved in a similar way to Landon’s brother, Hayden, and Avery’s characters in the previous standalone, The Ruthless Gentleman. However, the storyline was still unique, so it didn’t take anything away for me.

Louise Bay always does such a wonderful job of creating such emotion and passion between her characters, and The Wrong Gentleman felt fun, dreamy, and romantic. Landon and Skylar’s happily ever after was very well deserved and sweet, and made for a very enjoyable romance!

“Did I tell you how beautiful you look tonight?”

For some reason, Landon’s compliment didn’t make me wince the way some men’s comments did. Everything about him was different and it had thrown me off kilter. His warm breath on my neck shouldn’t have made me shiver. He shouldn’t ease the ever-present knot in my stomach or have me wanting to slide my hand into his as we walked. He shouldn’t make me feel safe. “You didn’t.”

“Well, you do. Not that it’s any surprise.”

“Because you’re a gentleman who prefers blondes,” I said, nudging him gently with my elbow, trying to lighten the mood.

He pulled in a breath and scraped his hand through his hair. “I’m beginning to think I’m a man who just prefers you.”

I focused on the cobbled street in front of us. “Me?” Had I been mistaken about the ex-girlfriend in town or the girl on Tinder? I tried to hold my breath to ensure I heard his reply.

“Yeah, you. I like you. More and more.”

My stomach swooped, and I tried to think of a response. My head was telling me to run. Far away. I didn’t want to fall for anyone. I’d worked hard to stay single all these years—to keep away from temptation. But now, temptation right in front of me, I found myself rooted to the spot, wanting to know what was next. “Okay.”

“Okay?” he asked.

I nodded, unsure of what to say. Unsure of how I felt. I knew I found Landon attractive.

I knew I liked him too. But I also knew that I’d been single all these years for a reason.

He wrapped his large hand around my upper arm to steady me when I stumbled over a loose cobblestone. We stopped, and I looked up at him as he swept his thumb across my cheekbone. “I’m only going to ask you this once, and you don’t have to decide now, but stay with me tonight?”

“Landon . . .” Somehow, I couldn’t say no to him, even though I knew I shouldn’t say yes.

“Think about it.”

USA Today bestselling author, Louise Bay writes sexy, contemporary romance novels – the kind she likes to read. Her books include the novels Faithful (not currently on sale as undergoing maintenance!), Hopeful, The Empire State Series, The Royals Series and The Nights Series (both series of standalones books each following different characters).

Ruined by romantic mini-series of the eighties, Louise loves all things romantic. There’s not enough of it in real life so she disappears into the fictional worlds in books and films. Louise loves the rain, The West Wing, London, days when she doesn’t have to wear make-up, being on her own, being with friends, elephants, and champagne. She loves to hear from readers so get in touch!

  1. This is another author I haven’t read yet but need to. I’m not big on romantic suspense, though. Or at least that’s not normally what I reach for. Was there a lot of suspense or just a little? Otherwise, this sounds like a book I would like. Great review!

    1. There were elements of suspense, but I wouldn’t say that it really is. Haha, does that even make sense? I LOVE suspense, and that’s where it fell through for me a little, so it would probably be great for you! Hopeful and her Royals Collection are my favorites, and you could even start with them too – they’re standalones as well. I hope you enjoy her! 💕
